General Guild Info
Vision
L2P. Roflcopter. QQ. Somewhere along the line, people have lost sight of the big picture in MMOs. Patience and respect have been traded for progression and a sense of entitlement. A single wipe causes a group to disband and the accusations to start flying. Failing to choose the maximum dps theorycraft build somehow means that you have no understanding of your class. Your boss at work is more flexible about when you take time off than your guild is.
This is nonsense. Our vision for Clockwork Assembly is to create an environment of clean, light-hearted fun for all our members. We want our members to actually know each other. We want to foster an environment where it is OK to make mistakes and learn from them without fear. We want to avoid negativity. We want people to laugh, build lasting friendships, and experience Guild Wars 2 with us in a way that's completely different than their past MMO experiences.
Our Manifesto
We believe that...
Good players sometimes don't play how they want because they are fearful of criticism.
-
- People often won't engage in activities that they don't feel confident in. Maybe you never bothered to raid in your past MMOs because you felt like your guild was going to do you harm if you didn't already know the fights. Maybe you never got into PVP for fear of criticism about how you played, because your gear wasn't the best, or because you felt like you were not very good at it. We don't subscribe to this at all. We are all about learning new things together. Play what class you want, when you want, how you want without fear of criticism. We believe that teamwork trumps choices concerning builds and class dynamics.
-
- Not knowing everything is okay.
We want our members to feel comfortable asking questions. We want people to be able to ask anything in guild chat and for that to be okay. Don't know how to equip your new gear? You should be able to ask. It's 2 years in and you've never done this encounter before? No problem. Seriously. What's so terrible about not knowing? All of us were there at one time or another. Questions stem from a desire to gain understanding. We want to encourage our members to support one another in this area.
- Not knowing everything is okay.
-
- Wipes and mistakes are okay.
Wipes and mistakes will happen. We don't ever want anyone to feel that they are not accepted or not good enough because of a wipe. None of us are perfect. We want to foster an environment where wipes are meaningless. We want our members to encourage and stand behind each other during times of adversity. We want members who aren't going to lose their cool and leave when their gear is red and wipe number 8 is coming up. Stand with me when I make a mistake, and I'll stand with you when you make one.
- Wipes and mistakes are okay.
-
- People matter most.
Our members are absolutely the most important thing. If you've looked at our application, you may have discovered that we don't ask about your raid experience, how many gnomes you killed, or what color your gear was. We believe the qualities of the people in the group are far more valuable than in-game accomplishment will ever be. Patience, kindness, encouragement, and selflessness are all qualities that we look for in our members. Loot and progression should never come at the expense of personal relationships.
- People matter most.
-
- We should recruit great people and we should stay small.
We are selective about our members, meaning we want people with good qualities. We don't have an open door recruitment policy. We don't view gear, experience, or in-game accomplishment as measure of a player. We want the guild to stay fairly small. We believe once a guild crosses a certain size threshold that relationships tend to become impersonal, and smaller cliques form that alienate players.
- We should recruit great people and we should stay small.
-
- We're casual.
We are a casual guild. That means that we probably won't see every ounce of content that the game has to offer. We aren't end-game focused. That said, it is our hope that as our members work together and get to know each other, that they will feel comfortable enough with each other to accomplish their own personal in-game goals.
- We're casual.
- Leadership is important.
We've created the Code of Conduct to allow our members to have a clear understanding of the expectations we have. Please take the time to read over them. Running a guild can be difficult at times. There are a lot of different personalities and emotions involved. We may respectfully ask people to leave who we don't feel are an appropriate fit. We want members who believe in our vision, and who understand that sometimes officers are required to make difficult decisions in order to maintain an enjoyable play experience for our members.
