Welcome to Guild Of Dungeoneering...
We've got a feeling you're going to like it here.
Purpose
Given our name, dungeons are our main forte. We do not consider ourselves to be hardcore meta zerkers, or a bunch of filthy casuals, though we do have both among our membership.
Our members are what they want to be, when they want to be it. The guild imposes no requirements on its members in terms of how seriously they take dungeons, instead leaving it up to individual members to decide who they want to run with.
Outside of dungeons, the guild does just about whatever the members want to do. It is completely up to them, and is not the role of the guild to tell them what to do or organise activities for them. If a group of people want to do something, whether it be form up for a dungeon run, world boss tour, order an upgrade, start a mission or just throw a party, they can. No permission from anyone is needed to do anything here, as all have full permissions.
Vision
I am Johnathan, founder, and put simply, this is my vision for the guild.
To create a free guild, where everyone is equal.
Our main tenets:
- Promote individuality and independence among our members. We seek true members, not numbers.
- Create value wherever and whenever possible. If one of our members improves, the guild improves.
- To never shy away from challenge. Overcoming conflict makes us stronger.
- To create an inclusive environment, where merits of character are prized over superficial statistics like achievement points, character level or what gear you are using.
Structure
We adopt an almost flat hierarchy structure, where everyone is on a level playing field, where your value in the guild is determined by your actions and involvement.
Currently there are three different ranks within the guild, which are there for organisation purposes rather than imposing permission restrictions or determining a member's importance.
We use ranks to be able to differentiate members based on how they play, to help members know what to expect when playing with other members.
Dungeoneer: The main rank, that comprises most of our members. This rank is for those who consider themselves to be only casual/occasional players, those who like to explore and progress at their own pace, and newcomers to the game.
Dungeon Master: The experienced hardcore/meta players, who prize speed and efficiency, and are more selective about who they choose to run with. To maintain the integrity of this rank, there is the requirement of the 'Dungeon Master' title/achievement, and a quick demonstration that you know your stuff.
Guild Master: This is the primary administration role. The main duties for the Guild Masters are recruitment, to ensure that high standards are met of new members, and ensuring that the guild stays true to its vision.
While I am the founder and currently the main 'leader', I want to make a few points clear about how I see myself within the guild.
I don't want to create a cult of personality, where the leaders are revered, worshiped and obeyed by their subjects.
I want for my guildmates to see me as an equal, not a superior.
I don't want to be the only diving force behind the guild, or the main pillar holding it up.
I want the guild to be able to support it's own weight, to be able to go where I cannot, to be able to lead itself to greatness should I not be there.
I believe that being a leader should not be a title that someone can bestow upon themselves. Leadership is given to those who deserve it by those who choose to follow them. I believe that true leadership is not about ordering people to do things, but about giving them a reason to.
This is why we are structured as we are, and have no limit on the amount of Guild Masters we have, to allow those who truly deserve the position to be able to achieve it, without having to climb an arbitrary rank ladder, or wait until a vacancy appears.
Interested?
If the vision for this guild sounds like something you really agree with and want to be a part of, then send one of our Guild Masters either a PM if they are online, or an in-game mail, telling us about yourself and how you can add value to the guild. We are not strict about who we allow to join, but we must take measures to guard the guild from those who would abuse the trust (and permissions) that we give to all of our members.
Guild Masters: Arcan Darkfire, Yaez Leader.
