About the Guild

Recruitment FAQ
1. What is the Granite Guard, and what does it stand for?
We are traditionally a dwarf only guild that to quote a former friend and all, “wants to get drunk and kill mans.” That means we prefer to burn, cut, maim, slash, stab, mutilate, annihilate, and outright murder others in online play. Sometimes, if we are tired of killing people we might, and I mean might, do some PvE, grudgingly.

2. How do I apply?
Visit register and apply in the application section. Fairly painless

3. I’ve applied now what?
You will become a recruit. Generally this is a get to know you period wherein we determine if you fit into our guild smoothly. I suggest grouping with us and/or hanging out in vent to get a feel for the guild. Survive and thrive for three weeks and you are in.

4. How close are you to dying dude?
What an odd way to ask about age requirements. Technically, we have no min or max. Previous guild members have been as young as 13 and as old as 55. Current membership averages in the mid 20s with some outliers on both sides.

5. Ventrilo is yes?
Yes Ventrilo is yes. I suppose if you are scared of ridicule for high pitched voices or something you could listen only. Fact is Granite Guard is all about the organized Peevpee and without vent that is not possible. In short get in vent. Speaking is optional.

6. Family Friendly?
We are a diverse group with wide ranging interests. Topics discussed in my tenure here have ranged from standard ALL UR BASE nerd fare to geopolitical concerns and obscure historical references. Short Answer NC-17 to R rating. Go in with an open mind and thick skin and you’ll be fine.

7. Casual Wins?
If we define casual as about an hour of play a night then core Granite Guardsmen are NOT casual players. That said we understand life happens so advance at your leisure altitis is a common guild affliction so you will likely have company along the way.

8. Pro or no bro?
To date no one has being Gkicked for being terhoribad. That said everyone should have a good idea where they fall on the skill spectrum if they are honest with themselves. All we ask is that you improve over time, admit major mistakes as to avoid them in the future, and try out advice from others. We won’t ever tell you how to play or force you to roll something “needed”, but we won’t listen to whines about being subpar if one ignores advice tendered to rectify that situation. Once again open mind, thick skin should be your mantra.

9. What race will the guild be as the perfection of form, the dwarf, will not be a playable race in Guild Wars 2, which is a damn travesty and makes me sad face?
Nicely put! Current consensus is an open race guild; however, if you roll a sylvari we will mock your superfluous plant person breasts and possibly refer to you as elf v2.0.

10. I can haz other guild?
Wearing our tag requires a certain level of commitment. We require that your tagged Granite Guard character be exclusive to our guild. What you do with your other character slots is totally your own choice.

11. Awesome Sauce, ohh wait what game till Guild Wars 2?
Mostly Rifts, one or two still float around in Warhammer Online though not under the Granite Guard tag anymore. Others of us are all about Skyrim, and a few are beta testing Old Republic. Some are not actively gaming right now as they find the current crop of games to be lack luster or are in a situation that precludes gaming, mostly dodging exploding trailers.
