General Guild Info
Stonewall Vanguard is the third guild in a GLBTA (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Straight-ally) community of over 1500 members. We started off in Star Trek Online as Stonewall Fleet and have since spread into Star Wars: The Old Republic as Knights of Stonewall. Both these guilds are going strong with hundreds of members active on a daily basis. We have now decided to expand once more into one of the most anticipated games of 2012, Guild Wars 2.
Stonewall Vanguard is a worldwide guild that will, most likely, be located on a US based server; but, as we have done in Star Trek Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic, we'll do our best to create an environment where events happen in multiple time zones and on multiple days to allow everyone to participate, no matter their country or availability. We want as many people as possible to feel included which we think honors the spirit of Guild Wars 2.
Our community was founded on the principle of community and equality and therefore, unlike other GLBT guilds, we allow everyone to join even if they're under eighteen or do not identify themselves as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. We pride ourselves on providing a community that offers a safe place for our members to play their favorite games without having to hear words like “gay” being used in a derogatory manner or where they don't have to listen to constant overly sexual comments and, most importantly, where people can be themselves and not have to hide their sexuality or identity. Allowing under-eighteens to join is an extension of this principle as no-one turns gay on their eighteenth birthday. We believe this, often overlooked, group of gay gamers are actually the people who are in most need of the support of the gay community and we try our best to accommodate.
We do however have eighteen and older areas of our guild to ensure that other members can speak openly about more grown-up topics.
